Title: My Capri
Post by: V8Glynn on 20:23 Sunday 04 January 2009
Hi. My name is Glynn and i own a modified 1979 capri called marmite (people either love or hate the interior). the car was modified in approx 1990 with a cartel bodykit and quilted blue velvet interior. I have owned the car for approximately 5 years and in that time i have replaced the 3 litre v6 that was fitted when i bought it, with a rover 3.5l v8. More details can be found on my website. www.mycapri.net (http://www.mycapri.net)

nice car Glynn my 1st car was a canary yellow mk2 facelift 2ltrs i paid £600 in 1989 for it and spent about £7000 on it with a stage 2 RS2000 lump 4 speed external linkage gearbox and a 2.8 limited slip diff , i then lowered the beast and spent a fortune on a stereo system and total closure alarm on it lol
3 years later it was written off by a joy rider who hit me on the westmoors army camp bends  >:( >:( >:(
was by far the most fun car ive ever owned  ;D ;D ;D

Thanks, I've got to agree its all about the sound with a v8. I usually get about 19 to the gallon and that's with my friend steve driving, which i think is not too bad. I only ever got about 25 mpg out of any ford i've owned and once had a 1.6 cortina that did 10 mpg. That was in the olden days when petrol was a reasonable price.

That is not bad going at all really, i am lucky to see 27mpg out of mildly tuned 2litre twincam.

I got to admit though even though it dont sound as good as yours it is a nice sounding 4 cylinder.

Hi Adam, I think we would all be lost without Julie keeping the club organised. Luckily Anya arranged for me to go to the local airfield for my birthday last year. Must admit the brakes faded totally after the third run. Got a bit scary after that. Below are the current prices for circuit hire from Haynes website. It's got rather expensive. I used to pay £40 for a day when i used to go their with Dreamracers.

Hire the museum's own test track

The Museum’s own test track can be hired for individual testing or used with other outdoor areas for larger events. Challenging and technical, the Museum test circuit gives the chance for motoring activities of many different types. High-grade tarmac has been laid to give the best surface quality.

The circuit is ideal for driving enthusiasts and motorsport competitors alike, offering a fantastic driving experience whether hired for exclusive one car use, or as part of a group event. Solo use of our circuit removes all the familiar racing circuit problems of missing allocated sessions from congested circuit conditions, or other vehicles spoiling your test lap.

Exclusive hire of our facilities represents outstanding value in this age of ever increasing circuit charges. The circuit is ideal for any hill-climb and sprint cars, rally cars in tarmac trim, and short oval race cars. It has proved invaluable for racing teams to run in engines, bed in brakes, practice starts, set up handling for tight corners, or just getting used to your car in an affordable environment.

This exclusive facility also provides ideal conditions for film production and photography.

Track Hire Charges

Prices start from £60 for a half day session (10am - 1pm or 2pm - 5pm) or from £80 for a full day (10am - 1pm - mandatory lunch break - 2pm - 5pm). Noise restrictions apply, decibel levels will be tested by a member of museum staff, contact us for further information.

I used to take the brookie there and managed to get the front tyres down to the wire.
