CROSSFLOW.... MAYONAISE AND LOTS OF IT.

Hi ... Mk1 escort of April (my much better half) is starting to drive me crazy...  Next problem is as follows.

Thanks to Chris got a manifold and bolted on DGAV and got it running.   Started blowing out loads of white smoke... Rocker cover full of mayomaise, dip stick covered in it too.  I had however when I took the old manifold off not drained water so when i moved manifold loads of water went into centre two inlet ports ... I assumed this had caused mayonaise.  Changed oil and filter, when I drained sump it was the consistancy of salad cream and a horrible grey colour.  Changed oil and filter ran engine for about a minute.   same result ... sump full of grey goo and water level dropped..   head gasket .. i thought...
Took off head ... gasket was brand new and no signs of water leaking past it...
When I brought car told engine had been rebuilt ... Pistons appearred brand new and were stamped +090
Head also appearred to have been heavily reworked.
The only sign of possible water ingress i could see was at inlet manifold,  the area around the water port seemed quite pitted,  and water could have got into centre two inlet ports.   Is this a possibility.... How much water does it take to emulsify oil...  Is there another explanation...
P.S.  if the engine is bored to +090 does this make it a 1700cc.

if it was taking water in at the inlet manifold it wouldnt run very well. most of those manifold are pritty pitted around there but dont cause a problem usually. if its loosing water it must be taking it in from some were, blocked breathers can cause mayonnise in oil but if it was this, dont think you would be loosing water. i know when you get water in the oil it can take ages to clear it even if you have fixed the problem it can still come back, best to put a engine flush through it think matt has same prob at mo remember him talking to some one about it at the last club meet and they said to flush it with some special stuff to clear it will try and find out what it was

Hi ... thanks for that ... Have filled block with water and left it ,,, no water loss, so I'm guessing block is OK, Am taking the head to Slark engineering tomorrow for them to give it the once over and make sure thats O.K. ...If so I'll getr a good head gasket and reassemble the thing and put an appropriate flushing stuff through it to clean it out...
